Green Acres Manor News - September 2008
Green Acres Manor
Happy autumn to you all! Just when the weather begins to turn cool and look and feel like fall, Mother Nature goes and turns up the heat again. Good for the Grapevines, bad for those susceptible to colds and allergies. Thanks to the beautiful weather the staff and residents have been spending a lot of time outside.
As a reminder, if you aren't feeling well or have even a slight cough PLEASE don't come and visit your loved one. If you must, please ask one of the staff members for a mask and use the antibacterial gel sitting on the table in the foyer before and after your visit. Thank you for helping to keep the residents well.
Birthdays were abounding this month which meant lots of cake and ice-cream, candles and singing. Everyone seemed to really enjoy themselves.
The Alzheimer's Walk is on October 18th at Schollenberger Park in Petaluma. We have a website set up for people to make donations and to watch us reach our goal. http://memorywalk.kintera.org/winecountry08/hansen?faf=1&e=1908817111. Please forward this on to your friends and family because as we know each of us will be affected in one way or another by Alzheimer's disease. At this time approximately 5 million Americans have the disease and it is estimated that by the year 2050 there will be 16 million Americans affected. Please make a donation to help find a cure. Thank you to all the families who have donated money to help us achieve our goal.
As a reminder October 16th from 12-1 we will be having Flu shots here at Green Acres Manor. All staff and residents will be receiving their shots at that time. If you'd like to have yours done on that day please given Joe or I a call.
The weekend of October 25 and 26th we will be having our 3rd annual Pumpkin carving contest. We will be supplying the pumpkins and light refreshments throughout the two days. Feel free to come by and carve your pumpkin on either day. At the end of the weekend the residents will judge and choose the winner. The winner will be notified prior to Halloween.
As always have a Happy, Healthy month!
