Green Acres Manor News - November 2009
Hey all you turkeys out there. Be on the lookout. Thanksgiving is upon us. That must mean that Christmas is right around the corner as well. Where did the year go?
We are still having fun here with a full house. Thirteen residents can really keep us on our toes! Everyone has had their flu shots now. We are waiting to see if the H1N1 vaccination becomes available so we can have that as well. Keep your fingers crossed and say a little prayer that everyone remains happy and healthy thru this winter season. Just a reminder to all of our visitors, if you are showing signs of any kind of illness, please stay at home and take care of yourself. When you do come and visit, make sure you take advantage of the anti-bacterial hand sanitizer by the front door. Everything we can do to help each other stay healthy is worth the time and effort. We truly appreciate it.
Our Halloween with the Kenwood Elementary third grade class was a blast. The kids were dressed to the nines in their Halloween costumes. They all looked great. They and our residents enjoyed the afternoon with an art project, games, and yummy treats...no tricks at Green Acres, just good ole fashion fun! Our Thanksgiving feast will obviously be this Thursday. Once again, if anyone will be taking a resident out, please let us know. As is tradition here, we will be celebrating Christmas on the morning of the 25th. All are welcome to our gift opening and treats at 10am. Bring a camera as this is always an exciting time. Once again, for anyone taking a resident out for the holidays, please communicate to us so your loved one can be ready with bells on for you.
We have a couple more new faces around Green Acres. Lucille Smothers joined our family the first week of November. She is a wonderful lady with so much to offer. She comes to us via Arizona, but we won't hold that against her! She is also a family member of the late Jack Lindh who was with us for five years. Welcome back to the Smothers family. We also have added two new employees just this week, Keyla and Lizette. It is great to have them on our team as they will lend support at a time where vacations are much desired. Please help me welcome them to our home. We unfortunately lost Megan who moved back to Idaho to be with her ailing father. We wish her and her family the best.
We will have two birthdays coming up in December, so mark your calendars. Charlie will celebrate his 87th birthday on December 3rd. Patty will have a milestone birthday on December 11th, celebrating her 90th birthday. Please help us in wishing them both a very happy birthday.
That's all the news for now. Please don't forget to check our website occasionally for picture updates on activities we have been doing. Take care, stay healthy, and we'll see you all very soon.
