Green Acres Manor News - May 2011
I hope the spring is treating everyone alright. It has been a strange one so far with some cold and rainy weather passing through Kenwood and the north bay area. The rain is nice for the gardens, but between you and me, I had already had enough! Speaking of the gardens...they are almost all planted now. There are a few items that we won't plant until the end of the month or early June like the pumpkin patch. Everything is growing well, especially with the rain and now the sunshine. Here's a list of what's been planted: multiple types of tomatoes, zucchini, squash, multiple types of green beans, green bell peppers, multiple hot peppers, egg plant, cucumbers, cantaloupe, and watermelon. We have other things that are perennial like the strawberries which we are already eating, raspberries, blackberries, blue berries, basil, rosemary, and other herbs, green onions, and I'm sure I'm missing a few things! The vineyard is also coming along nicely.
Our Sixth Annual Anniversary BBQ is right around the corner. The theme this year is Mardi Gras. Monica will be preparing a wonderful afternoon of fun and food for us this year with a great theme. She just returned from a week in New Orleans, so she will have all of the excitement ready for you. The BBQ will be on Sunday, June 12th starting at noon. Good weather permitting, we will be out front as usual. Please RSVP to Monica at email@example.com or call us here at 707-833-1171. We'll need to be able to plan appropriately for food and beverage. Wow, it's hard to believe we've been here for six years now. Time flies when you're having fun!
We will be celebrating two birthdays this coming month. Howard will be celebrating his 84th birthday on June 6, and our very own Maria will be celebrating her 21st birthday again on June22! Remember, at Green Acres, you can be as young as you want to be. ( :
That catches you up with what is going on at Green Acres. Our next letter will usher us in to another summer...hopefully filled with sunshine, fun, and enjoyment.
