Green Acres Manor News - May 2006
Spring is in the air! I hope that everyone was able to have a wonderful Easter holiday. We celebrated with having a very tasty caramelized ham with all the fixings. The residents also had fun decorating eggs for our many baskets around the house. Thank you to all who sent flowers and gifts. It really makes the house a beautiful place, and we all appreciate it. I know Easter is a religious holiday, but it makes a big difference to have decorations and activities to help make the home more festive and alive.
Was that the sun that I saw this week??? What a relief to finally have some sunshine to be able to get out of the house and have some fun. We have done just that! The residents love having the opportunity to enjoy the nice weather. They have played cards, taken walks, read the newspaper, and have had many nice conversations while enjoying feeling the warm spring sunshine. I hope to soon have them helping me in the garden…well maybe!!! I was able to get outside and spend some time preparing the ground for our vegetable garden expansion project. A few more sunny days and we’ll be all set.
We do have a new addition to our family. William Blaine moved in at the beginning of April and has been adventuring through the property ever since. We also will see Marie Smith move in at the end of the month. Both William and Marie have very loving and supportive families, so be sure to say hi and welcome them into the family. On a down note, we have had a flu bug going through the home. It started April 21, and has continued so far through the weekend affecting half of the residents so far. It has been a 24-48 hour type of flu bug that has affected each person in a different way. It will hopefully pass soon so we can get back to fun as usual, especially with our nice weather.
On a very serious note, everyone needs to remember that Sunday, May 14 is Mother’s Day. You cannot forget mom on Mother’s Day! She would never forgive you. So… I hope all the mom’s out there have a wonderful Mother’s Day celebration. Please let us know if there are plans to take any resident moms out for brunch or lunch or dinner or a day outing or a family function…hint…hint! We’ll make sure she is all ready to go.
I think that is all for now. It’s time for me to go out to purchase a Mother’s Day card! Take care.
