Green Acres Manor News - July 2010
Hello to All,
Monica and I just returned from a wonderful week in San Diego visiting family and friends. It was a nice little summer break for us, and a chance for the staff to be free from the "boss"! Everything at Green Acres went well, and we are glad to be back at home here in Sonoma.
The garden is in full summer mode now, producing most of the vegetables for our meals. Soon, we will start making summer soups, breads, and other delights with the excess. We have a very talented and creative staff in the kitchen! It is so nice to be able to go out and pick your own fruit and vegetables, and for us, it never seems to be enough. We are still learning, however, and will continue to improve and grow our garden.
All of our July birthdays were celebrated with cheer, and a few of us have paid the price. We had a lot of cake around here! ( : Our August line up for birthdays has Meg celebrating a grand milestone of 90 years young on August 2. Joan will then celebrate her 84th on August 22. For our staff, Maria A. will have a birthday on August 9. Maria won't be with us, though, as she has gone on her maternity leave. We will be having a new little addition to the Green Acres family sometime in late September or early October. We will be organizing a little baby shower for her and will let everyone know when. We would also like to welcome our newest staff member, Isabel, to the Green Acres family. Isabel is full of youth and exuberance, and has fit in nicely with the rest of the staff. We hope to see her around here for many years to come.
I want to put out a reminder that our Ice Cream Social will be this Sunday, July 25. This will be after lunch, and the forecast is for it to be a nice, warm day. The Sonoma County Fair is just a couple of weeks away as well on Tuesday, August 3rd. If you plan on attending and haven't already talked to me, please do so as soon as possible. Thank you.
I think that about covers it for now. I hope everyone is enjoying their summers, and we'll see you all really soon. Take care.
