Green Acres Manor News - February 2007
Love is in the air!!!
A Happy Valentines to all you love birds out there. I hope everyone has a very
wonderful day with someone they love on the 14th.
Was January freezing cold or is it just me, the kid from San Diego??? Last year
was 3 months of rain, and this year appears to be freezing cold temperatures. We
have lost quite a few plants, shrubs, and flowers over the past month or so. You
may have noticed coming in for a visit. We have also been pruning back a lot of
overgrown areas. It should make for a beautiful and colorful spring. It will give
us an opportunity to plant a few new things as well.
I want to introduce our newest resident to everyone. Her name is Catherine
Rice. She comes to us from her home in Oakmont, and it appears she knows quite a
few people in the neighborhood. Welcome to the family Catherine! We also have
another new employee working with us. Her name is Kate. Kate will be working with
us as she studies for her Master’s Degree in Gerontology at Sonoma State
University. She is learning fast and having a lot of fun with the residents.
We celebrated quite a special birthday this past month. Marie Smith turned a
very spry 93 years young. Congratulations Marie! We hope to celebrate many, many
Projects never seem to go away for me around here. This past month we replaced
six older aluminum windows with new double paned vinyl. These new windows look
great as well as will help conserve energy. Now I need to paint the outside of the
house around the new windows…see…it never ends! Don’t worry, though, I already
have a new color picked out. It will stay green of course, and hopefully bring a
fresh look to the house. I will work on this throughout the year…one wall at a
time! YEAH for me!
I think that’s all for now. I hope everyone is staying healthy and having fun.
We’ll see you soon.
