Green Acres Manor News - Fall 2014
I hope you all enjoyed your summers. I know some of you had some nice vacations. That's always enjoyable to be able to get away and enjoy another part of the country or world. Our summer here seems to go by too fast. It's hard to believe it is already mid September and that Fall is upon us. Leaves are already falling, and I can feel the weather changing as well as the shorter days. Harvesting our grapes is also nearing. It's an exciting time, and so many types of wine grapes have already been picked.
I had spoken of our 2nd annual harvest celebration a while back. We now have a date for you. It will be on Sunday, October 5 here at Green Acres. It will be a lunch and start at our normal lunch time of noon. We will have a few different selections in a buffet style as well as my "world class", award winning wines! We'll probably be wrapping it up around 2 or 2:30pm. Please let me know if you will be attending and for how many by September 28. I appreciate it.
In that same week we are also having our annual Flu Shot Clinic. That will be on Wednesday, Oct 8 from 11:15am-12:45pm. All of the residents will receive flu shots unless you communicate to me otherwise. All of the staff is also required to have a flu shot. If you would like to join us, please let me know. I'm sure we work lunch into your visit to make it worth your while!
The Alzheimer's Walk is shortly thereafter on Saturday, October 18. This will be held at Shollenberger Park in Petaluma. The address is 1800 South McDowell Blvd. There is a ceremony at 9am followed by the walk at 10am. Please help us support this great organization that is so close to our hearts...come walk with us...join our team! We have raised over $10,000 to date for the Alzheimer's Association mainly through our charity wine event. We have also had some generous donations. We would like to reach our goal of $12,000, and donations are still being accepted. You can make checks payable to the Alzheimer's Association and leave them with us to turn in for our Green Acres team. Any and all support is welcome.
I have finished the phase one front landscaping project and am still formulating my plan for phase two. I am in the middle...or beginning...of painting the house. We are wrapping up the total rebuilding of our back ramp down to the back patio. It looks beautiful, especially if you like redwood. From there, we will be working on some concrete work on that back patio and brick steps. There's always something to do and improve on! Well...I'm out of room now. take care and we'll see you all very soon.
