Green Acres Manor News - December 2009
Merry Christmas everyone!
I hope you all have been good this year so Santa Claus will bring you all that you wish for. Santa's elves have been busy around here. Monica and staff have done a wonderful job with decorating for the holidays and creating a very festive mood for our residents. Presents are under the tree and baked goods have been a plenty. I fear that I have already gained my 5lbs of winter weight! Santa did pay us a visit Saturday, December 12, so he knows everyone's wish list. Thank you to all the volunteers at the Kenwood Fire Department who made that happen. A reminder for any of you who will join us Christmas morning...we will be opening gifts at 10am, and you are all welcome. The second reminder would be if you are planning to take someone out, please let us know in advance so we can have them ready for you.
These first couple of winter months have brought us quite a bit of rain and cold weather. This means that we are spending a lot more time indoors. If anyone has any activity ideas for us that we can include into our routine, they would be greatly appreciated. Even though we do a lot of different things with our residents, one can never have enough. It's nice to be able to do different things every day. We have completed quite a few holiday crafts, have seen all the great holiday movies, and have decorated dozens of cookies.
We celebrated two wonderful birthdays this month. Charlie celebrated his 88th and Patty her 90th. They both enjoyed their special days and appreciated the special attention they received. Unfortunately, we do not have any birthdays in January. We'll have to wait all the way until February 9 when Connie will celebrate her 96th. We still have New Year's, though!
We have a great new neighbor to the south of us. Marc and family moved in and has been a great help to us here. Marc is a contractor who had done a few jobs for us here, and has made himself available to help with a lot of little jobs that needed more skill than I posses. The most noticeable may be the front bay windows which were repaired with some new wood, sealed, and painted. (I did the painting!) He has also helped with some rain gutter repair, plumbing, and wood work throughout the home. We continue to invest in our home to make it as comfortable, safe, and appealing as possible.
That's all the news for now. I hope you all have a wonderful holiday season, a very Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year. Please be safe and smart as you travel through this holiday season, and I hope to see you all very soon.
