Green Acres Manor News - April 2006
Hello to all,
As I write this we are preparing for our St. Patrick’s Day celebration. Debbie and our residents decorated shamrock cookies today to be enjoyed with the traditional Irish meal of corned beef, hash, and cabbage tomorrow. FUN, FUN, FUN!!! And speaking of fun…we are having more fun days with the help of all of our new employees. Debbie has done a wonderful job of incorporating new activities to what we were already doing as well as doing everything more often. We have taken drives out to Bodega Bay with a few residents, gone out to a bingo night in Oakmont with a couple of residents, have played many more games, and have big plans for April. Look for our activities calendar during your next visit. We have many fun things planned for the Easter holiday.
I do have some sad news to report. Molly Powers passed away on the morning of February 26th. Molly was blessed to be able to pass happily and pain free in her sleep. She was 87, and had been a resident of ours over two years. She will be dearly missed.
You may be asking yourself why this newsletter finds you so early this month???
I will be on vacation from March 22 thru April 1, that’s why!!! There is no need to worry, though, Monica and Debbie will be here fulfilling my administrator duties, and Christine, Rebecca, Maria, Julio, and Lori will also all still be here conducting business as usual. We have built such a great team of experienced and loving caregivers. I hope you all have had a chance to meet and talk with them all. Lori is our newest addition. She has over 13 years of experience working with the elderly. She is a very lovely person. She will be helping us on Saturday mornings.
We are still waiting for the rain to stop. I don’t think it has since December. The last I heard, we were over 38 inches of rain. My vacation is taking me home to San Diego and then to Mexico in hopes of spending some time in the sun which I sorely miss. We have done some work out in the front yard that I hope you all notice. Our landscaper has planted many new flowers to help brighten up the front drive, and then we have replanted the walkway planter with Monica’s favorite plant, lavender, and one of my favorite flowers, calla lilies. There will be more to come as soon as we receive some sunshine. Let us know what you like!
I hope everyone has a wonderful Easter holiday. Take care.
